The records, measuring 1.03 cubic feet, date from 1979 to 1990. They consist primarily of the correspondence, minutes, legislation, maps, and other records of founding co-director Karen Fant. The records document various environmental issues in Washington State in the 1980s. Included are materials documenting forest planning and timber sales in national forests in Eastern Washington, wilderness legislation regarding Washington State lands, and opposition by the coalition and other environmental organizations to a proposed hydroelectric project in the Chelan district of the Wenatchee National Forest.

The Washington Wilderness Coalition is a Seattle environmental organization that was incorporated in 1979 and has worked to protect public lands in the state.
